On March 31, 2016, the Google Maps-powered application will be discontinued in both North America and Europe. In Japan, Wii Street U’s tenure will end on April 1, 2016. Japan will stop selling the ¥500 application in the Wii U eShop on February 29, 2016. The $4.99 application will be removed from the North American eShop on January 31, 2016. Wii Street U will stop working on the day service is ended.

Wii Street U is essentially a map program with extra features. In addition to finding routes for yourself, a person could use the program to explore tour spots, even using the Wii Balance Board to “walk” through a virtual tour. Images from various locations could be shared on Miiverse, as though they were sightseeing photos. It was even possible to search for hidden characters in areas.
