Colorful Shmup We Are Doomed Is Coming To PS Vita On February 9th

Turns out that the PlayStation Vita version of We Are Doomed isn’t, er, doomed after all. It’s coming out on February 9th.

Developer Vertex Pop announced that its colorful shmup would be heading to Sony’s handheld last year but it never turned up. Instead, We Are Doomed was released on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Then there was silence.

Anyone hoping for the game to arrive on PS Vita during this time had probably lost hope. But that is no longer the case with this announcement. Oh, and even more good news: If you own the game on PS4 already it’s cross-buy enabled, so you don’t have to buy it again.

We Are Doomed has you zapping baddies with an absurdly overpowered laser. The idea is to collect the purple Trinkets around the arena to increase your score multiplier and charge up your Superbeam.

“The basic strategy is to fill the meter, wait for a screen full of baddies, and then trigger the Superbeam to wipe them all out (at 2x the points, no less),” says Vertex Pop. It’s a game that requires some patience for a big pay off.
