Super Mario Maker Getting Another Update March 9

Recommended Videos

A new Super Mario Maker update was announced during the Nintendo Direct. New items will be added for course creation.

People will get pink coins, key doors, and skewers. Pink keys come from shaking regular coins, key doors come from shaking doors, and Thwomps can turn into spike pillars after being shaken. Nintendo hopes this will result in mandatory boss battles for some stages.

There will also be a Super Expert Mode in Super Mario Maker. This 100 Mario Challenge needs to be unlocked, tasks you with beating the most difficult levels. 12 Mystery Mushroom costumes will be added as well, including Tetra from The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker.

Super Mario Maker is immediately available for the Nintendo Wii U, and more than 6.2 million courses have been made. The update will arrive March 9, 2016.
