Lead Sound Director Masayoshi Soken begins by speaking a little bit about the challenges of writing music for an MMORPG, and how he endeavored to carry the dark story and themes of Heavensward into the game’s actual music.

Next, Sound Designer Yousuke Nakashima and Battle Sound Designer Go Kinuya talk a bit about their roles in creating the sound effects and making the game as immersive as possible. Kinuya also noted the thrill of playing Final Fantasy XIV at home and hearing the sound effect of a limit break for the first time in-game.

“It’s my goal to reach people emotionally through the sounds that I create,” Soken went on to say. “If I can accomplish that, then it makes me feel awesome.”

Final Fantasy XIV is available for the PC, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
