Both North America and Europe will see the return of our favorite genie this week. The Nintendo Wii U eShop in both regions will be getting the Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Director’s Cut this week on March 24, 2016. It’ll be $9.99/£6.99/€9,99.
Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Director’s Cut is an updated version of the second game in the series. After Risky Boots the pirate crashes Scuttle Town’s Relic Hunters Expo and steals Uncle Mimic’s lamp, Shantae finds herself fired. That doesn’t stop her from setting out to collect the three seals needed to keep Risky Boots from using the lamp’s power. As she goes on her journey, she’ll eventually learn to transform into an elephant, mermaid, and monkey.
Originally released on the Nintendo DSi as a DSi Shop exclusive, the Shantae: Risky’s Revenge Director’s Cut version of the game came to Windows PCs in 2014, the PlayStation 4 in 2015, and now the Nintendo Wii U in 2016. This iteration has a new Warp System that makes it easier to traverse the game, as well as an unlockable Magic Mode. Magic Mode gives Shantae a new costume and reduces her magic consumption at the cost of half the defense ordinary Shantae enjoys.
