Sony has announced it will be shutting down the Apple iOS, Android, and PlayStation Vita game Fat Princess: Piece of Cake. Retirement notice emails are being sent out regarding the PlayStation Vita version’s closure, while the Google Play and iTunes product listings have their closure notices.
The end dates are different for each version of Fat Princess: Piece of Cake. The PlayStation Vita version’s online features shut down at 12am PT on January 1, 2017, and you can’t make in-game purchases anymore.
Here’s the list of things related to Fat Princess: Piece of Cake that you will no longer be able to after January 1, 2017.
- Spend any earned or purchased gold for in-game items.
- Earn access to a voucher for Fat Princess for your PS3 system for completing level 15.
- Download the game from your library, but you may continue to play the game in offline mode until it is removed from your PS Vita system.
The Apple iOS and Android versions’ product pages begin by saying it is also no longer possible to make in-game purchases, and continues on to say all online services will be discontinued by 12am PT on December 1, 2016. It then says that, as of October 1, 2016, it is no longer possible to buy in-game items with gold, earn the Fat Princess PlayStation 3 voucher, or download the game from “Purchased” or “My Apps.” The Apple iOS version is still appearing in my “Purchased” download list, so there may have been a miscommunication regarding that October 1, 2016 end date. Since the wording is otherwise identical to the PlayStation Vita requirement notice, it is possible that Sony meant to say those online features would be unavailable after December 1, 2016, rather than October 1, 2016.
Fat Princess: Piece of Cake is a match-3 game where players would match icons to help priests, rangers, warriors, and workers accompany the princess into battle against the Blue Kingdom. It was released on the PlayStation Vita, Apple iOS, and Android on May 23, 2014.
