Sony’s new company Forward Works is focusing on the smartphone market, and they’ve announced a new Wild Arms game is in the works, featuring a new story and characters from the series. [Thanks, Game Jouhou.]

Details are light for now, but the new Wild Arms game on smartphone will feature original staff members from the Wild Arms games, including the producer of the first game, and most of the series, Akifumi Kaneko. It’ll feature characters from the series in a brand new story. Perhaps it’ll be a new game following the steps of Star Ocean: Anamnesis, which also has a similar premise.

More details including the full title of the new Wild Arms game will be revealed on a later date.
