We’ve known that Final Fantasy XV will receive additional character DLC chapters, and new information for the first one, featuring Gladio, will bring a familiar villain and new areas to the RPG. [Thanks, VG24/7.]
The information comes from a special edition book that was handed to YouTube influencers, with some comments from Final Fantasy XV DLC producer Haruyoshi Sawatari, who explains that the DLC featuring an episode for Gladiolus will have him go up against none other than the classic Final Fantasy villain, Gilgamesh.
“The player confronts an enemy called Gilgamesh, who can only be seen in Episode Gladio,” commented Sawatari in the book. Perhaps this could have something to do with how Gladio gets his scar.
Additionally, Sawatari noted in the book that Gladio’s DLC episode will feature new areas beyond the game’s open world area of Lucis. “In Episode Gladio, you’re able to go into areas that cannot be entered in the main game, noted the producer.
Sawatari also describes the new content as something that will bring the world of Final Fantasy XV closer to the player, and in greater depth. He finished the mini-interview with a teaser stating “We’re also planning on content that will truly blow your mind.”
Final Fantasy XV is available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
