Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia, the upcoming smartphone RPG featuring Final Fantasy all-stars was recently delayed from end of 2016 to early 2017. Square Enix provides its latest update via Famitsu.

First, here’s a little Q&A provided by Square Enix about the upcoming title.

Q1: Please tell us about its current development situation.

A: It’s at 99%.

Q2: Around when can we expect it to release?

A: It’ll be in early 2017.

Q3: When do you plan to release the next information on it?

A: We plan on releasing it along with its launch date in January.

Q4: What is the main attraction about Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia?

A Many characters from past Final Fantasy titles will appear with voices! A command-based battle system that is split between Brave Attack and HP Attacks, with a story that goes beyond the series in a charming crossover RPG.

Q5: Please share a message for the fans looking forward to Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia.

A: We apologize for any problems we may have caused from delaying the game to early 2017, but we’re finally seeing the light at the end of the development tunnel. We also plan to release new characters and content after releasing the game, so we thank you for your continued support.

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia is a smartphone game based on the world of Dissidia Final Fantasy on arcade. Similar to the arcade version, Koei Tecmo is helping out in its development.

When the game releases, the game will feature over 20 characters from past Final Fantasy games. Rather than acquiring these characters using a gacha system, you’ll recruit them by advancing through the story and events. Since “most of the main-numbered Final Fantasy characters will appear,” you’ll get to create your own dream party.

The above screenshot gives us a look at its battle screen, where we can see the order of enemies displayed above the party status. You can also see icons next to the enemy’s HP to see who they’re aiming for, providing a strategic touch to the game.

While the game uses the “Brave Attacks” and “HP Attacks” from Dissidia Final Fantasy, there’s a limit to Brave, so you’ll get to enjoy battles with smooth tempo.

Again, characters have their own abilities and will all come with their own characteristic powers. There’s a limit to how many times abilities can be used in battle, so it’ll be important to keep that in mind while taking on enemies.

Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia releases in Japan in early 2017 for iPhone and Android.
