Lament, a sidescrolling, NES-inspired action game, will have players fighting horrors and supernatural beasts in order to free their sword from an evil curse.
As the game’s sword-wielding, wolf-man hero, players will have to use their blade to cleave through various ghosts, zombies, living statues, and undead knights. They’ll fight in six different stages, taking the player to ghostly castles in the sky, sewers filled with ancient machines, and cathedrals overwhelmed with the dead.
The sword may be cursed, but that doesn’t make it a bad weapon. It’s an effective, large tool for carving up enemies, and the player can find various upgrades in the stages to make it more powerful.
The full game is expected to release on February 24, 2017, but players can try out Lament now by grabbing the free demo from Itch.io. Players who enjoy it can give it a vote on Greenlight.
