Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Sells Over 459,000 Copies In The U.S. At Launch

Nintendo has sales figures for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s U.S. launch. On April 28, 2017, over 459,000 copies were sold in the states. This figure includes both digital and physical copies and shows a 45% attach rate. 2.7 million Nintendo Switch consoles have been sold worldwide, and that figure means one in two people bought the system and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

In addition to the launch day sales figures, Nintendo revealed how this compares to past games. The previous Mario Kart entry to boast such numbers was Mario Kart Wii for the Nintendo Wii. When it launched in the U.S. on April 27, 2008, it sold over 433,900 copies. We’ll have to wait for a future update to see how Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ends up comparing to Mario Kart 8. As a reminder, over 1.2 million copies of Mario Kart 8 were sold in its first four days after its worldwide debut.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is available for the Nintendo Switch.
