Players will want to tap their toes to the beat of the music as they battle their enemies in RPG Underhero, as they’ll need to time their attacks to those beats as well if they hope to finish off the game’s monsters.
Underhero has the player controlling a masked underling of the villain, Mr Stitches. Mr Stitches has already beaten the chosen hero, though, and for whatever reason, the underling has decided to take the hero’s place. Taking the magical sword hilt, Elizabeth the IV, with him, this underling means to defeat its former master with the player’s help.
To defeat Mr Stitches, players will have to comb a world filled with cartoonish creatures, lush landscapes, and jokes about RPG tropes. They’ll come across mini games, light puzzles, platforming challenges, and foes they can speak with (since the enemies still think of the underling as an ally).
Should things get less than friendly between the underling and some enemies, they’ll get into a rhythm-based fight. Players have access to an array of attacks, defenses, abilities, and other tools, but to put them to full use, players will need to tap along to the beat of the battle music. If they can keep up with that beat, as well as tap using their reflexes when the enemy is coming at them, they’ll have a better chance of survival.
Players who like their RPGs with a few genre jokes, and who have a good sense of rhythm, should be able to grab the colorful Underhero when it releases sometime this year.
