Apple iOS 11 Is Incompatible With 32-Bit Apps

During Apple’s WWDC 2017 conference, an important Apple iOS 11 announcement was made. The new firmware will not be compatible with 32-bit devices, meaning people with a iPhone 5 or 5C or earlier phones and people with fourth generation iPads or later will no longer be able to update their devices. This also means all 32-bit applications and games will no longer be compatible with any devices running Apple iOS 11; they will not even appear in the iTunes store on these phones and tablets.

People with devices running Apple iOS 10.3 can head to Settings, General, About, and Applications to see all of the apps and games on their phone. Here, they can determine which programs will not run in 64-bit mode. This lets you see how the update will effect your library.

A number of major Apple iOS games are 32-bit games. For example, Chaos Rings, Chaos Rings 2, Chrono Trigger, Deathsmiles, Final Fantasy Tactics, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Layton Brothers Mystery Room, Lunar Silver Star Story Touch, Shantae: Risky’s Revenge, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, and XCOM will no longer work unless they receive updates.
