Sega announced back in July that they are ending partnership with Archie Comics, who handled the Sonic the Hedgehog comics for 24 years. The new publisher IDW’s series will start in April 2018.

Publisher IDW announced at NYCC 2017 this weekend that the new Sonic the Hedgehog comic series will begin in April 2018. Moreover, we’ll see the release of a new issue per week for the first month.

It was also revealed that Ian Flynn, who worked on the original Sonic the Hedgehog comics for Archie Comics, will write the script for the new series.

Tyson Hesse, who recently worked on Sonic Mania’s opening animation won’t be working on the interior art duties, but he did work on the new series’ first promo image (pictured above).

The artists for the new Sonic the Hedgehog comic series will be revealed on a later date.
