PlayStation 4 Mini Wired Gamepad Coming This Holiday Season

A new PlayStation 4 controller has been announced for North America. Sony is releasing a Mini Wired Gamepad. This is a Hori controller that is 40% smaller than a standard DualShock 4 and is designed to be more comfortable for players with smaller hands.

The Mini Wired Gamepad is a trunicated version of the controller. It has the standard action buttons, triggers, and analog sticks you find on the DualShock 4. Instead of a touch pad, there is a button you can press and the analog sticks can simulate other touch pad inputs. It also has a 10ft. cable and an easy grip design.

However, the Mini Wired Gamepad does not have some of the other elements present in a DualShock 4. It does not have dual motors, a headset jack, the light bar, a motion sensor, or a speaker. This means it will not be compatible with some PlayStation 4 games.

The Mini Wired Gamepad will be available in North America for the 2017 holiday season. It will cost $29.99/$39.99 CAD. For those who like the idea of the controller, but wish it were available in a design other than the standard blue, Hori has released a Dragon Quest Slime variant.
