Cross-Platform Hopes Die After Dark Souls: Remastered Kills Off Rumors

Recommended Videos

We’re all looking forward to revisiting the original Dark Souls and its many improvements when Dark Souls: Remastered releases this May, but one thing that will be missing is cross-platform play.

It was a big surprise to see the action RPG series announce the remaster of the first game on a Nintendo platform, and it started some rumors about the possibility of cross-platform play, akin to what we’ve in Minecraft and Rocket League on the Switch.

However, speaking with IGN, a Bandai Namco representative confirmed that Dark Souls: Remastered “will not have cross-platform play.” Hopes of getting to play Dark Souls with your friends on other platforms will have to wait for now, but the remaster itself should have plenty to offer for those who’ve yet to play the game, including an increase from four to six maximum players for multiplayer.

Dark Souls: Remastered releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on May 25, 2018. Check out its announcement trailer in our previous report.
