If you were born after the Eighties the name Tiger may not be familiar to you, but before the age of the Game Boy Tiger’s dinky handhelds were a cheap solution for playing games on the go. They took familiar video game characters like Mega Man and Ryu from Ninja Gaiden and reduced them to solid LCD blocks. After their handhelds faded into memory Tiger tried their hand at making the portable R-Zone system and the Game.com. Neither gained commercial success even though Tiger managed to license hot properties like Resident Evil.
After going on a gaming hiatus, Tiger has a new system the Net Jet. The device is really just a USB joystick with a slot for a cartridge. For $25 you get the controller and a clone of Puzzle Bobble. Additional games cost $15, but some of the games look about the same quality as free flash games on the net. The whole thing is kid-friendly too. For FPS games you have Mission Paintball and Super Soaker: Water Fight. Somehow I don’t think this is going to bring Tiger back to their glory days.
