Strange guests, dark magics, bizarre phenomena, and ever more unsettling events await the curious players of Sleeping With Third Eye Open, a narrative adventure set in a unique hotel in Southeast Asia.
Upon agreeing to take a vacation to this place, players will soon find themselves steeped in events borne of folklore, Thai mythology, and supernatural phenomena. However, it will be up to the player to choose whether they engage with these things during their stay, as the game does not make any attempt to guide or force the player down a set story path. Intriguing events will happen around the hotel at all times and in many places, allowing the player’s own curiosity to decide what they wish to follow up on.
How the player puts themselves into events and makes decisions will make changes to the story and characters of the game as well. Whether players simply decide to have a relaxing trip to the hotel, enjoying spas and the striking scenery, or if they choose to inset themselves into a staff member’s life or a guest’s personal predilections, the story will shift around them, and certain characters or events will shift to reveal different story elements and surreal phenomena.
Players are given certain powers of investigation to help them follow up on stories they find particularly intriguing. From a golden tongue that can aid in chat, a green thumb that can help with plant growth, to a dog’s nose for scents, players will be able to access powerful skills that will help them unveil the secrets of this dream-like hotel and its guests.
Sleeping With Third Eye Open is currently in development and slated for release in 2019. It is currently raising development funding on Kickstarter.
