Bandai Namco has released My Tamagotchi Forever, a Tamagotchi simulation, for Android and Apple iOS devices. It is a free-to-play life-sim where people can care for various iconic characters. As you watch over them, you will receive coins for tending to their needs and level up. As you level up, more items, decorations and accessories will become available.
Caring for a Tamagotchi in My Tamagotchi Forever is rather familiar. You need to feed it, pet it, take it to the bathroom, clean it and play with it. You can also dress it up and take pictures of it. It has augmented reality functionality, which lets you explore Tamatown with ARKit and ARCore. There are currently three baby and toddler forms, four teen forms and seven adult forms. The eighth adult form is a mystery, as it was created as part of a contest for people to design a new Tamagotchi.
My Tamagotchi Forever is now available for Android and Apple iOS devices outside of Japan and China. Though My Tamagotchi Forever is free-to-play, there are optional in-app purchases. A Coin Doubler, an unspecified number of Diamonds and Welcome Pack are available for $1.99 each.
