The title, Work x Work, comes from the themes of ‘work’, in both the meanings of ‘working hard’ and ‘fulfilling a duty’. The game takes place in a “Hero-sama Land”, where an actual demon king is rumored to be present. Through tackling the various dungeons, the two main characters will strike up a nice friendship despite their differences.

Story

Thanks to a certain incident, Prince Elric from the Yuishoal Kingdom has dropped down to the 18th in line to succeed the throne, from being the next in line. In order to restore his authority, he travels to ‘Hero-sama Land’, a theme park where anyone can become a hero. The prince believes that there is an actual demon king lurking within the dungeons.

At “Hero-sama Land”, Elric meets Pochio, a hard-working part-timer who nevertheless doesn’t do very well at his job. They make quite the rowdy duo, but as they learn how to have a heart-to-heart talk, they form a friendship that will change the world.

Features

The game features a lighthearted story and atmosphere, which meshes with the cutesy look to the game. Gameplay-wise, battles will use a new “Instructor Battle” system where advice and instructions are given to the party characters, instead of commanding characters. There is an Auto Mode as well, and the game is made so that those new to RPGs can still have a fun time.

The game has a wide variety of famous developers working on it, which you can read more about here.

Work x Work will come to the Nintendo Switch in Japan on September 27, 2018. Its development is currently 75% complete.
