Idola Phantasy Star Saga Announced For Smartphones As Series’ 30th Anniversary Title

Sega recently teased a new title for the Phantasy Star series’ 30th anniversary, and it’s been revealed as Idola Phantasy Star Saga for smartphones. Here’s its first trailer, screenshots, and details from the official website.   You can check out the trailer for Idola Phantasy Star Saga in the above video.   Here’s info on the setting of Idola Phantasy Star Saga, the latest title from the Phantasy Star series that has been played by over 10 million people:   The story is set in the war-torn land of Vandoll, in a world ruled by sword and magic where giant unknown creatures called “Idola” wander and threaten the livelihood of mankind.   Meanwhile, the resurrection of the god of destruction “Dark Falz,” who was sealed long ago, has begun.   Will mankind be able to stop the resurrection of Dark Falz? What is the true identity behind the Idola that is related to the Dark Falz?   Next, we have info on a couple key characters:   Stella (CV: Akane Fujita) Stella is the leader of the Aries Knights, an armed brigade that fights the Idola. She’s the heroine of the game. She has a timid and shy personality, but hides her true face with an iron mask. When wearing her mask she can carry herself regally, but goes back to her shy personality when it comes off.     Yuri (CV: Toshiki Masuda) The protagonist of Idola Phantasy Star Saga. He lost his parents when he was young, and was raised by an old friend of his father’s who was a ship captain. After the fateful encounter with Stella, he joins the Aries Knights as captain of the flying corps. He’s a kind and big-hearted young man who treats everyone equally.     Here’s a glimpse at its battle system:   The battles are command-based, and Sega is preparing a new kind of game system that will be unique to Idola Phantasy Star Saga. More details will be revealed in a future update.   In this world there are two sides of Law and Chaos, and the characters will be part of one of them. This will also play a role in the game system.   The giant creatures known as “Idola” are messengers of the god of destruction “Dark Falz” who was sealed a long time ago. The Idola threaten the livelihood of mankind, and fighting against them in battle is one of the highlights of the game.   Developers behind the game include producer Shuntaro Tanaka (Valkyria Chronicles, Eternal Arcadia, Sakura Wars 1, 2, Phantasy Star Online 2 es, Phantasy Star Online 2); director Tomomasa Chin (Phantasy Star Online 2 es, Phantasy Star Online 2, and Valkyria Chronicles 1 and 2); art director Sho Mutsuura (Phantasy Star Online 2)   Lastly, you can pre-register for the game here.
