Microsoft has announced its Xbox Adaptive Controller will have accessible packaging design. This was the first time Microsoft’s Packaging Design Studio had to design a package with accessibility in mind, that could be opened with just one hand or arm.
In creating the packaging, Microsoft consulted with people who have disabilities and love games, to help ensure the Xbox Adaptive Controller would be easy for them to open. Among the feedback was to have a box that did not involve using their teeth to open and that more simple steps, instead of fewer complicated steps, would be ideal. The idea to have loops to open and access items was also suggested and features heavily in the final packaging. It also is made with paperboard, which is easier to open than other kinds of paper packaging.

The Xbox Adaptive Controller will be released in September 2018 and costs $99.99. It is compatible with the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
