Wargroove Shows How People Can Create Custom Cutscenes

Recommended Videos

When Wargroove, a strategy game inspired by Advance Wars and Fire Emblem, is released, it is going to include an editor that allows people to create their own campaigns. This includes the option to not only make maps, but also cutscenes to tell a specific story. To show how far the editor has come during development, an official Chucklefish blog post was made showing how people can set animations arrange dialogue to create brief animated segments.

In the example provided, people get to see a conversation between two of Wargroove’s commanders, Queen Mercia of Cherrystone and Caesar, her loyal dog/commander. You can choose the setting and actors, then create a timeline to tie the cutscene together. When creating an event, you can place the character, determine timing, give them lines, choose the direction they are facing, have some voice lines play, and assign an emote. For example, some emotes available are brave, idle, idle crown, laugh, negative, right, and positive.

An example of a conversation between Queen Mercia and Caesar was then offered, to show a final product.

Originally, all Wargroove cutscenes were going to involve static character portraits and text boxes. However, Chucklefish felt this did not offer enough flexibility and range.

Wargroove will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in late 2018.
