Sekiro Focuses On Its Shinobi Prosthetic Gameplay At Gamescom 2018

FromSoftware and Activision recently announced the release date of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and they had more to share at Gamescom 2018 with info on the “Shinobi Prosthetic” and how it opens up gameplay.

The main character of Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a ninja who was betrayed and left for dead. He lost his left arm in the process, and it was replaced with what they’re calling the “Shinobi Prosthetic.” The ninja’s mission is to retrieve a young lord who was captured by an evil clan, and you’ll get to use all kinds of tools from his Shinobi Prosthetic to help on the way.

One big feature of the Shinobi Prosthetic is the grappling hook that adds an extra layer of vertically to the action. Verticality is something FromSoftware always focuses on, but this time you’ll get to directly explore the verticality, meaning instead of using ladders you’ll get to directly shoot yourself up using the grappling hook.

The other main part is the stealth aspect. There are many ways to assassinate opponents in this game, such as the Shinobi Deathblow where he drops down to assassinate unsuspecting enemies. The game offers a variety of strategies that you can employ. For example, if you’re not great at sneaking around but you know your way around action games, you can simply take out all the enemies in your sight and advance through the game that way. Being able to take on the game in different ways was another focus for FromSoftware.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on March 22, 2019.
