Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk Trailer Teaches Us How To Create Puppets

Recommended Videos

We previously got an introduction to the “Puppets” in Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk, and NIS America shared a new trailer that shows how you’ll make these soldiers before sending them off to dungeon crawl.

The first thing you’ll choose when crafting a Puppet is their “Facet,” or job class. There’s a bunch to choose from such as the Aster Knight, Shinobushi, Theatrical Star, Marginal Maze, Peer Fortress, Mad Raptor, and more.

After selecting a Fact, you’ll name the Puppet. Then you’ll see a bunch of customization options, including options for appearance, nickname, nature, voice, “preferred stat growth,” stance, and Skill Selection.

These actually go quite in-depth, for example, the Nature option gives you choices such as Brave, Hotblooded, Pure, Childlike, Wise, Nihilistic, Reckless, Stickler, Zealous, Pouty, Stubborn, and Fickle. These all have their own stats as well.

As for “Stance,” here’s what we saw for Aster Knight in the trailer:

  • Standard: The standard stance. No major strengths or weaknesses, so you can expect consistent output.

  • Moon: An offensive stance. Boosts STR, DMP, and weapon proficiency, but reduces CON and LUC.

  • Sun: A defensive stance. Boosts HP and DEF but reduces DMP and enemies will target you more.

A Puppet is born after you place a “soul” in it, and from there they’ll be around to help you take on dungeons.

Labyrinth of Refrain: Coven of Dusk releases on PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 18, 2018 in North America and Europe on September 21. The game releases for Switch in Japan on September 27, 2018.
