Nintendo Fulfills Cancer Patient Chris Taylor’s Wish To Play Smash Bros. Ultimate

Recommended Videos

Earlier this month, Nintendo fan Chris Taylor, who goes by SpookyWoobler on Twitter, tweeted that he was afraid that he wouldn’t be able to play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Chris has already overcome cancer three times in the past, but revealed back in July that this time it was terminal, and that he had decided to no longer pursue treatment. After Isabelle’s reveal in this month’s Nintendo Direct, he tweeted that he was scared he couldn’t make it to Smash Bros. Ultimate’s launch date, seeing as he was already bedridden.

Chris’ friends helped signal boost his wish to play Smash early, as well as the Super Smash Bros. subreddit, and several news outlets as well.

Thankfully, the collective appeal caught Nintendo’s eyes, and yesterday, Chris posted saying that two Nintendo representatives stopped by his house with the E3 demo version of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to let him play it early with a friend.

Chris ended up posting pictures of him playing the demo on Twitter, and thanked the community for giving him an experience that meant so much to him. While this is a difficult time for him, he joked that because it was the E3 demo, he’s still able to continue participating in newcomer hype like everyone else.

We at Siliconera give our best wishes to Chris, and we sincerely hope he will be able to play the full release for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, as well as Devil May Cry 5, another game he really wants to play.
