Koei Tecmo held a special 15th anniversary broadcast for the Samurai Warriors series, where Koei Tecmo president and CEO Hisashi Koinuma touched up on the series’ next main-numbered entry. [Thanks, Gamestalk.]

“We obviously haven’t announced a new main-numbered title since Samurai Warriors 4, but that doesn’t mean we’re ending the series,” said Koinuma during the live stream.

According to Koinuma, who is also the Samurai Warriors series producer, they’re currently in a trial-and-error stage of development for the next game, and they’ve been coming up with ideas, destroying them, and repeating.

“I can’t say whether it’ll be this year, or if it’ll be next year, but I believe we’ll have an announcement to make,” he concluded.

Samurai Warriors 4 DX releases in Japan on March 14, 2019 for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Check out its latest trailer in our previous report.
