Platinum Games CEO Atsushi Inaba and former Square Enix director Hajime Tabata who recently founded JP Games got together to talk industry and ambitions in a special feature for this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine. [Thanks, Ryokutya2089.]

Here’s a snippet from the interview:

Atsushi Inaba (who first started working at Irem): “It feels like there’s less and less freedom (in the game industry). The industry as a whole seems to have gotten more serious. It was really terrible at Irem back then. [laughs]”

Hajime Tabata: “Wasn’t it more or less like that everywhere?”

Atsushi Inaba: “It was also terrible in Osaka (Capcom)! We weren’t serious. However, because of a place like that we also released a bunch of games that were like jokes.”

The two also shared comments on their ambitions for this year:

Hajime Tabata: “To update myself so I can be at my best for work.”

Atsushi Inaba: “I want to bring The Wonderful 101 back to this world. The game that Kamiya (Hideki Kamiya) said only 13 people* ever played. I’d like to quietly release it as a new title on the Switch. [laughs]”

*Reference to a comment from Hideki Kamiya at last year’s BitSummit saying he wanted to bring it to Switch because “only about 13 people played it around the world.”

The Wonderful 101 released for the Wii U in Japan and Europe in August 2013 and North America in September 2013.
