Monster Hunter: World recently reached 12 million in worldwide shipments and digital sales, and it’s been revealed that the game has some more copies digitally than it has through retail.
The information comes from a message from Capcom President and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto who discussed digital strategies that started with Resident Evil 7 biohazard in 2017. However, it was the 2018-released Monster Hunter: World that brought a big change to the company’s strategies after its digital sales ratio surpassed physical sales.
Tsujimoto noted that thanks to Capcom’s digital efforts, they’ve been able to add to its main market while further expanding sales in the Asia market. The company plans to use the experience from this success to further bolster digital sales through marketing and promoting more effectively, and more directly with the fans.
Sales ratio for PC versions of key titles have also seen an increase, so Capcom will focus on sales promotions for it as one of the company’s important platforms moving forward.
Monster Hunter: World is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
