Crime Still Doesn’t Pay In The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening Remake

The Legend of Zelda: Linkā€™s Awakening is going to include one of its more famous Easter eggs. If someone attempts to steal from the Mabe shopkeeper, he will face his wrath. This dire consequence for shoplifting first appeared in the Game Boy version of the game. (Thanks, IGN!)

In the original installment, it was possible to steal by grabbing an item, running around the shopkeeper so he wasnā€™t watching you, and slipping out the door. An array of consequences, such as permanently being labeled a thief, ensued. The video below shows this remains in The Legend of Zelda: Linkā€™s Awakening on the Nintendo Switch.

See Link’s thievery in action in the clip below.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will appear on the Nintendo Switch on September 19, 2019.
