Konami Is Making The TurboGrafx 16 Mini

At E3 2019, Konami revealed it is heading into the plug-and-play realm. The company is developing the TurboGrafx 16 Mini. That version of the system will be released in North America, while Europe will get the PC Engine CoreGrafx Mini and Japan will get the PC Engine Mini. Each region’s system will resemble the original model.

Konami’s plug-and-play system will offer different display modes, like a 4:3 ratio and one that replicates the look of a CRT TV. A quick save function will be available during its games. There will also be a multitap sold, so up to five people can play at once.

The first few titles for the system were revealed. It will have Alien Crush, Dungeon Explorer, New Adventure Island, Ninja Spirit, R-Type, and Ys Book I & II. Dungeon Explorer will support the multitap for five-player games.

Here is the official trailer.

A release date has not yet been announced for the TurboGrafx 16 Mini, PC Engine CoreGrafx Mini, or PC Engine Mini. However, an official website is now open.
