Well… Down Is A Super Mario Maker 2 Tribute To Downwell

Recommended Videos

With Super Mario Maker 2 out, people are finding ways to get creative with the new abilities and tools offered in this installment. Boomstick Gaming’s Joel M. has used the ability to make Vertical Levels to make a take on Downwell, the Ojiro “Moppin” Fumoto roguelike shooter where a character straps on gunboots, hops down a well, and must try and survive as long as possible as he falls. In “Well… Down,” which you can find at 2KH-BN0-7VG, it is Mario doing the falling.

“Well… Down” begins with people choosing their difficulty level. The standard one allows people to go through the Super Mario Maker 2 stage as-is and attempt to find a high rank on the leaderboard. The EZ option, which is triggered by hitting a switch (in-game, not your Nintendo Switch), covers up hazards, but will not let you complete the level. As people fall down, they can also try to collect special red coins to gain access to an optional bonus room.

Here is the official Boomstick Gaming video looking at the Downwell-inspired Super Mario Maker 2 level.
