Joy-Con Drift Will Be Fixed For Free, Nintendo Internal Memo States

Recommended Videos

According to a report by Vice, the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con drift issue that recently escalated into a lawsuit is partially addressed by Nintendo by making repairs for Joy-Con drift free, and refunds for those who already paid for Joy-Con drift repairs.

The details come from an internal Nintendo memo provided by an source left anonymous, that stated that “customers will no longer be required to provide proof of purchase for Joy-Con repairs”, and that “it is not necessary to confirm warranty status. If a customer requests a refund for a previously paid Joy-Con repair […] confirm the prior repair and then issue a refund.” It also states that if customer support representatives are met with a customer with drift issues, they are to guide them through troubleshooting procedures, then issue a repair at no charge if it doesn’t work.

Previously, Nintendo had only sent out standard responses to people enquiring about the issue as seen below:

“At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we are continuously making improvements to them. We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit https://support.nintendo.com so we can help.”
