Back in August 2018, Bublar Group and Sanrio GmbH revealed that a Hello Kitty AR game, along the lines of titles like Minecraft Earth and Pokemon GO, was in the works. Now, that game has a title and more detailed release window. In 2020, Hello Kitty AR Kawaii World will come to mobile devices. Preregistration for the free-to-play game will begin during Hello Kitty’s 45th anniversary celebrations in November 2019.

Hello Kitty AR Kawaii World involves multiple Sanrio characters, not just Hello Kitty. The press release called attention to Gudetama, Little Twin Stars, and My Melody, while the original website’s image showed off Aggretsuko, Badtz Maru, Chococat, Cinnamoroll, Keroppi, Pompompurin, and Tuxedo Sam. People will have the oppportunity to create Kawaii villages, get resources for it by visiting new locations while playing the game, visit other people’s towns, and take part in “adventures” that can involve Sanrio characters.

Hello Kitty AR Kawaii World will appear on Android and Apple iOS devices in 2020. It is unknown how many countries it will appear in just yet.
