The final Celeste chapter has a release date. On September 9, 2019, it will be time to say Farewell on most platforms. Matt Thorson made the announcement while also revealing that his Matt Makes Games studio is being retired and transforming into Extremely OK Games.
This means the free Celeste chapter nine update will be available on 9/9/2019, ideally. While that release date for the patch is set in stone on most platforms, it might not appear on the Xbox One on exactly that day. Once you beat the eightth chapter, you can head into this last set of challenges. It will have new gameplay features, like extra items and mechanics, Lena Raine has created a new soundtrack with 13 songs, and there will be over 100 levels. It is possible to hear two of the tracks, āThe Empty Space Aboveā and āFear of the Unknown,ā on the Bandcamp page selling the album for $9.
As for Extremely Okay Games, Thorson noted that this change comes from realize how big the group of people who he works on games is growing. Specifically, he noted, āI started Matt Makes Games when I was working solo in my parents’ basement, and I never thought I’d be working with such an amazing team on games of this scale. On TowerFall, my collaborators took a larger role than I anticipated, and on Celeste, it was obvious that calling ourselves Matt Makes Games had become silly.ā The developer is working on a new game now that is tentatively called EXOK1, but no details about it have been revealed.
Celeste is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
