Nintendo Issues An Apology For Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Mess, To Offer Pre-Order Cancels

Nintendo issued an apology for their lack of an earlier communication to Japanese fans that Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is based on the Western version which omitted risqué content from the original version.

There are two things that Nintendo wanted to apologize about, the first being their lack of an earlier announcement that the Switch game is based on the Western release of Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE that includes new content from the global version. Nintendo decided to go with the Western version with the aim of developing for a simultaneous worldwide release.

The second part of the apology is due to the fact that before announcing that Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore is using the Western version as a base, the Japanese official website had images from the original Japanese Wii U version. The images have since then been swapped to the correct version’s, but it stirred up confusion about some of the content for the game.

The screenshots were swapped out on October 10 and they announced that they’re going with the Western version as a base on October 17, but Nintendo recognizes they’re at fault for providing insufficient info ahead of time. For this reason, Nintendo will offer pre-order cancellations for those who already pre-ordered or purchased the game via Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store in Japan. More information regarding pre-order cancels will be provided on the support page later.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore releases for Nintendo Switch on January 17, 2020. Check our previous report for a look at some of the game’s new content.
