The internet’s favorite video game character is L-block?

This isn’t even news, it’s far from it. With that aside, GameFAQ’s sixth Character Battle ended with L-block, a shape from Tetris is the victor. Usually, obvious characters win and make it to the finals. Link won twice, Cloud won once and it seemed like Link was destined to win again. So why did L-Block win? My hunch is people are sick of seeing the same characters dominate the competition. Now, someone (me?) better snatch up the rights to making a game starring the right angled, king of video game characters.
