Shiren the Wanderer Vita Online Service Will End This Month

A PlayStation Vita game is about to lose some of its online support. Aksys has announced that Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate’s servers will be shutting down. An email was sent out saying all of Shiren the Wanderer Vita’s online services will be ending as December 2019 comes to a close, though an exact date was not mentioned. It has been available outside of Japan for four years.

In Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate, multiplayer is over ad-hoc and played locally with someone in the same space as you. However, the game had a number of online features. Wanderer Aid and Rescue was an option if you ended up falling in a dungeon after completing the main story, as you could request help from a player online or pop on to help someone else who died. You would also be able to find a place for yourself in the Tower of Miracle Ranking by uploading your attempts and comparing them to other players. Once the online service shuts down, people in North America and Europe won’t be able to get help or see how they rank.

If it is any consolation, Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate is actually on sale on the PlayStation Vita right now. If people head to the PlayStation Store, they can pick it up for $11.99, rather than $39.99.

Shiren the Wanderer: The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate originally appeared on the Nintendo DS in Japan in 2010. The PlayStation Vita port arrived in that region in 2015, then was brought over to North America and Europe in 2016. It still has a rich story and plenty to do offline.
