Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare Adds AR Photobooth for Custom Posing

Bandai Namco’s Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare mobile game has recognized a key appeal of Gundam modeling by adding an AR Photobooth feature. Conveniently, the AR Photobooth is directly integrated into the main app itself. It will allow players to display their customized in-game Gundam mecha against any photo they can take with their smartphone camera.

To promote the new addition, Bandai Namco released a new Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare trailer on February 28th, 2020:

Besides the AR Photobooth, Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare also adds new content and features in its 1.3 update. The additions include a new chapter for the main story campaign covering the “Soukai High School Cultural Festival.” The patch also added the “Custom Coloring” feature, allowing players to set their own preset color templates. Previously, only color presets based on existing Gundam mecha could be unlocked and swapped around. With Custom Coloring, players can choose any unlocked color and apply it to any part, then save the setup for use with their customized builds.

Other improvements include the ability to create and save “Loadouts” of parts and models for quick deployment for various missions, as well as a “Build Training” system to further improve part parameters.

Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare is known in Japan as Gundam Breaker Mobile, and its global edition went live in August 2019. In it, players collect and assemble Gundam plastic models (or “Gunpla”) to use in a virtual-reality combat game. In the game, players can mix and match Gunpla parts to find the ideal combination of attributes and abilities. More parts can be unlocked through mission rewards, special events, and paid “gacha”-style random draws.

Gundam Battle‘s part selections draws from the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise’s long history, and includes mecha from shows like Zeta Gundam, Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Gundam Wing, and more. Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare also added its own original creation: Gundam Artemis, a mashup of Gundam SeeD Destiny‘s Destiny Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam X‘s Gundam X.
