Yakuza: Like a Dragon Sales Surpass 400,000 Units

Yakuza: Like a Dragon Sales Have Passed 400,000 Units Since Launch

Yakuza: Like a Dragon (or Ryu ga Gotoku 7 in Asian regions), Ryu ga Gotoku Studios’ ambitious new take on the Yakuza franchise, has sold over 400,000 units since its January 16, 2020 launch. This combines both digital and physical sales of the turn-based installment. To celebrate this, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be available to purchase via the PlayStation Store at a 30% discount for a limited time. [Thanks, PRTimes!]

Despite this, sales for Yakuza: Like a Dragon are not as high when compared to previous mainline entry Yakuza 6. Yakuza 6, the final chapter for series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, shipped 500,00 units in its first week in Asian regions. However, in a previous Sega Nama broadcast, series creator Toshihiro Nagoshi was optimistic about sales. In late January 2020, Yakuza: Like a Dragon topped the sales charts in Japan. It remained in the top position for two weeks in a row before being unseated.

Additional paid DLC was announced for the title. This includes elements like a New Game Plus mode. Free cosmetic add-ons have also been released for the title. Other free bonuses include support items and exclusive costumes for Ichiban Kasuga, the series’ newest hero.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon released on the PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 16, 2020, and it will appear in North America and Europe in 2020.
