NieR Re[in]carnation

NieR Re[in]carnation is Written by a Team of Scenario Writers

The Famitsu interview with NieR Re[in]carnation director Yoko Taro reveals a few new tidbits about the game, including that, for the second time in NieR series history, Yoko Taro is taking a (small) step back and letting others handle the scenario writing.

To be more precise, this is the second time a NieR series creation is being written by others, with the first being the YoRHa: Dark Apocalypse raid event for Final Fantasy XIV. For that event, the scenario writing was mainly done by one person out of the NieR scenario writing team, but NieR Re[in]carnation is being written by around four different people. Yoko Taro’s job is to take the ideas written by the scenario writers and come up with an overall idea of how the plot will work.

While the world of Re[in]carnation may or may not be related to that of previous games, it’s more important that the world presented in this game is enjoyable on its own. However, other NieR games will likely appear as part of collab gachas. Additionally, according to Yoko Taro, it’s hard to explain if the young girl is the protagonist of the game or not, as there will be many main characters. Saito adds that, including battles, you’ll feel like there are even more main characters. Gameplay-wise, you’ll be playing through many stages in order to reach the goal of each stage. There are no PvP elements in this game.

Finally, it was revealed that all the towers and dungeons that appear in the game are called Cages. The mysterious ghost-like being next to the young girl will be a partner character similar to the Grimoire Weiss or pod from previous games.

NieR Re[in]carnation is in development for Apple iOS and Android. We still don’t know much about the game, but you can check out beautiful landscapes and more in a recent gameplay trailer in our previous report.
