Van is a cheerful boy who lives with his mother and enjoys playing basketball. He’s a natural talent that friends call him a “prodigy” and we get to see some of it early in the video. While eating dinner he asks his mom if there’s any chance his dad will show up for his next basketball game. Unfortunately, Van’s dad is often busy traveling around the world for his “trading work” so chances were slim.

However, that night, Van has a nightmare in which he sees a ninja appear behind his dad. He decides to go with his gut feeling and get on his bike to find his dad. While visiting his place across town, he arrives just on time to see him fighting a ninja. Van then gets trapped in a storage shed that caught fire from the fight. However, Van’s dad gives him a special bubblegum used to unleash the ninja powers that run in his veins.

Van’s father ends up getting hospitalized due to the damage he took. His mom also comes clean and admits that she’s known about his father being a ninja this whole time. This was actually meant to be a secret until Van turned 12 so that he can decide his own fate.

After looking through the debris from the storage, Van finds a scroll that explains the true history behind the ninja and why they disappeared. Basically, people needed ninjas for their special powers back in the old days, but not so much in the modern world. However, that doesn’t mean they’ve all disappeared, as all ninjas have learned to keep themselves concealed within civilization. That said, a ninja must decide for themselves when to use their powers that flow in their veins.

Ninjala is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
