Netflix Cowboy Bebop Live-Action Adaptation Resumes Filming

The show is back on the road—literally. After two major setbacks, the Netflix Cowboy Bebop live action adaptation is set to begin filming again in New Zealand. While the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in New Zealand closing its borders to protect people, the Ministry of Business, Innovation, and Employment has allowed crews for shows and movies like the Cowboy Bebop adaptation. With regards to the Cowboy Bebop live action adaptation, this means that 19 crew members and nine of their family members will be allowed into the country. As noted by the Stuff article, people come in would have to take care of and pay for “their own quarantine or self-isolation costs.”

The Netflix Cowboy Bebop show essentially dealt with two blows in a row. As Deadline noted back in October 2019, an injury ended up temporarily halting filming for months. John Cho, who plays Spike Spiegel, injured his knee while filming and needed to go through surgery and physical therapy as a result.

The Cowboy Bebop Netflix show was announced in November 2018 and will star Cho, Danielle Pineda as Faye Valentine, Mustafa Shakir as Jet Black, Alex Hassell as Vicious, and Elena Satine as Julia. We do not yet know who will play Ed. Also, as you might expect, there will be a Welsh Corgi playing Ein.
