There’s a 1-2 punch of good news for Ys fans this morning. Though, it probably involves more of a sword-combo than a flurry of fists. Dotemu announced a Ys Origin Switch port will appear in 2020. Plus, it won’t only be available digitally. Limited Run Games will handle both standard and a Collector’s Edition physical release. Pre-orders for the physical copies will arrive on July 8, 2020. (Other retailers will handle physical copies in Europe and Japan.)
Prices aren’t available for the Ys Origin Switch physical copies yet. However, Limited Run Games did share the contents for the Collector’s Edition. You get a copy of the game, of course. It also gives people a Steelbook case, an 18” x 24” reversible poster that shows main characters like Yunica Tovah and Hugo Fact, an art book, and a copy of its soundtrack on a CD.
A brief trailer for the port was shared as well. Don’t expect to see any gameplay, though. It only features a clip from the opening and a note revealing the Nintendo Switch version is on the way.
Ys Origin is a prequel with multiple playable characters. It originally appeared on the PC in Japan back in 2006, before eventually appearing on the PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One worldwide. The Xbox One version even added a Speedrun Mode.
Ys Origin Switch will arrive in 2020.
