MGSV Nuclear Disarmament Comes to the PS3

A milestone has been released in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The PlayStation 3 players of the world have made the virtual world a little brighter. Yes, the MGSV nuclear disarmament PS3 ending has been unlocked as of July 27, 2020. Kudos to everyone playing who made it possible. (The official Twitter account hasn’t acknowledged it yet.) Here’s the deal. There is a Forward Operating Base mode in the game, which adds something of a multiplayer element as people can build bases and invade each others’ bases. Part of that involves nuclear weapons, as you can build a nuke to get points for as long as it remains at your base. If people in a version of the game ended up all disarming their nukes, they’d get a secret ending.

Said ending did trigger the PC version back on February 2, 2018. However, the official Twitter account later confirmed this was a false positive, as some people still had nuclear weapons when it happened. The servers were sent incorrect values, as explained in some follow-up tweets.

Here’s the MGSV nuclear disarmament PS3 cutscene, which was shared by Steff. It noted that it occurred on July 27, 2020 at 21:36.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is available for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
