Puyo Puyo Champions Color Blind Options and New Characters Confirmed

A lot of quality of life and “just plain fun” additions will be coming in a Puyo Puyo Champions update. Sega shared details about and screenshots of the new features for the puzzle game. Chief among them are new Puyo Puyo Champions color blind options to help make the game more accessible. Also, more playable characters and features will show up when the update comes to the Nintendo Switch on August 26, 2020 and other systems in September 2020.

Here is Sega’s tweet confirming the new features that will be present in the free Puyo Puyo Champions update. There will be multiple color adjustment options in the settings, with “trichromat” shown in the example, along with a filter.

A few of the other updates are shown in the images. One is the Spectator Mode, which will let people watch matches in Free Play and cheer on the folks playing. People will also be able to play as the Puyo Puyo Quest mascot Paprisu the squirrel or Puyo Puyo Chronicle antagonist Rafisol.

Puyo Puyo Champions is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide, though in Japan it is known as Puyo Puyo eSports. The Switch update that adds new Puyo Puyo Champions color blind options, characters, and features will appear worldwide on August 26, 2020, while other systems will get it sometime in September 2020.
