Limited Run Games’ not-E3 2020 presentation confirmed it would be working with WayForward on the Shantae Game Boy Color game. Literally, as it would have Shantae GBC and Switch cartridges on the way. They had a September 2020 pre-order window back then, and that’s now been narrowed down to September 11, 2020. People will have four weeks to place an order for each one, before Limited Run stops taking your money on October 9, 2020.
With the Switch versions of Shantae, people have one option. It’s a physical copy of the game. The box art was even already shared on Twitter.
However, there will be a little more variety when it comes to the Shantae GBC release. There will be the standard edition, yes. But, Limited Run Games also shared a GBC Collector’s Edition that gives people the game on an Atomic Purple cart with matching stand, its soundtrack, an acrylic standee of Shantae, a pin, a poster, and a reversible poster.
The original Shantae Game Boy Color game debuted on the system in 2002. It showed up on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console back in 2013. The Limited Run Shantae GBC and Switch cartridge pre-orders will open on September 11, 2020 and close four weeks later on October 9, 2020.
