Genshin Impact is an open-world action-RPG that seems heavily inspired  by the Nintendo Switch and Wii U game, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It contains colorful environments, stamina meters, gliding, and other elements sure to invite comparisons between the two titles, but also carves out an identity of its own through the incorporation of gacha mechanics, cutscenes, and plenty of story set in a land called Teyvat.

At launch, the game will allow players to explore Liyue Harbor and Mondstadt. These are two of Teyvat’s seven major cities. The game is expected to expand with future updates, which will introduce players to new characters, cultures, and creatures.

The free-to-play game will also feature cross-play, so players will be able to join up with others regardless of their chosen platform. They will also be able to migrate their Traveler account and data between the PC, iOS, and Android versions of the game. Currently, players will not be able to move data to or from the PlayStation 4 version of the game.

To preload Genshin Impact, players can visit the PlayStation Store, Google Play, the App store, or Genshin Impact’s official website.

Genshin Impact’s servers will open to the public at approximately 10am GMT on September 28, 2020 for the PlayStation 4, iOS, Android, and PC. The publisher announced earlier in 2020 that a Nintendo Switch version of the game is expected to release at some point this year as well.
