Hello Kitty Tamagotchi Will Launch in December 2020

There have been a lot of cross-over Tamagotchis announced recently, and the latest one returns to a character and company that Bandai worked with before. A Hello Kitty Tamagotchi Nano is on the way. Pre-orders are already open for the $19.99 at sites like Amazon, and it will launch on December 1, 2020.

There are two cosmetic variants of this Tamagotchi. One is called Hello Kitty, due to the fact that it is white and has her bow and whiskers on it. The other is Favorite Things, which is red with icons like rainbows, bows, apples, and bees.

Rather than actually raise or care for Hello Kitty herself, the Hello Kitty Tamagotchi functions in a manner similar to the Pac-Man Tamagotchi. You’re raising a traditional character, feeding them Hello Kitty-themed food and having them play ballon or piano-themed minigames, and Hello Kitty pops by to help with things like the games. (Joey the mouse also will show up as a nuisance event, forcing you to press a button to have Hello Kitty stop him.)

There have been quite a few Sanrio Tamagotchis released in Japan over the last few years. However, those tended to let you actually raise Hello Kitty and other characters, like Pompompurin and Tuxedo Sam. There were Tamagotchi M!x and Tamagotchi Meets Sanrio variants released overseas.

The Hello Kitty Tamagotchi will launch in North America on December 1, 2020.
