Another way to preserve and continue to easily play classic games will arrive in 2021. Analogue announced a means of playing PC Engine, SuperGrafx, and TurboGrafx-16 games more easily. The Analogue Duo will launch sometime in 2021 for $199.
The Analogue Duo is described as an all-in-one NEC system, as it can use CD Roms, HuCards, Super CD Roms, and TurboChips to play PC Engine, SuperGrafx, and TurboGrafx-16 games. (It is region-free.) It has support for wired and wireless controllers, with 2.4g and Bluetooth support for up to four. It has horizontal and vertical position adjust and stretch options, scaler and scanline options, and supports HDMI 480p, 720p, and 1080p resolutions. There is a headphone jack built into the system and volume wheel, though it also uses HDMI to output digital audio. The two color designs are meant to call to mine the Japanese PC Engine and North American TurboGrafx-16.
There’s also an additional Analogue Pocket adapter related to this announcement. A $29.99 Hucard adapter is in the works, to add TurboExpress functionality to the list of handhelds the system will support.
The Analogue Duo will appear in 2021, and people can sign up for email notifications on the official site. The Analogue Pocket Hucard adaptor will also appear in 2021.
